Meet the leadership team
Phil is CEO of Orbis and Aquam Water Services, he has a strong track record in delivering strategic solutions that improve services and reduce costs, using both programme and operational line management. He has worked with the company since 2015 building the company to have 17 long term water company contracts in the UK
Phil is extensively experience in large-scale operational management, optimising business processes and creating innovative customer solutions that increase performance and improve the customer experience. His original background was in banking and finance, working as an area Director for Lloyds TSB banking group. He then spent nine years at Thames Water working on client relationships, taking on leadership roles on the revenue and billing side. Following this Phil worked for Affinity Water on PR 14, the link between customers and the wholesale operation.
Phil is based in Gloucester, UK. He enjoys sailing his boat and walking and climbing in Scotland and the Lake District.
Danny is chief technical officer of Orbis and Aquam Water Services, he has decades of experience growing pipeline infrastructure technology businesses. In 2004 he founded JD7 Technologies, a UK company which developed some of the first pipeline condition assessment technologies for water, gas and industry, which won several awards for innovation.
Aquam acquired JD7 in 2014 and Danny became managing director of the pipe diagnostics division, where he oversaw expansion into North America. Danny completed his mechanical engineering apprenticeship at Rolls Royce UK and spent 10 years working as an engineer within the nuclear marine technical development division.
In 2017 Danny founded Orbis Intelligent Systems, a pipeline infrastructure monitoring business focussing on IoT communications within water infrastructure assets. Orbis was acquired in 2020 and integrated into Aquam Water Services.
John works in close partnership with our clients to deliver pipeline diagnostics projects in the UK and globally. He also trains clients to use the Orbis’ pipeline camera systems.
John joined Orbis 2014, he manages a team that carries out pipeline investigations. Identifying pipeline points under-pressure, assessing internal pipe conditions and pipe tracing. John has worked on projects in Chile, Abu Dhabi, Sweden, Netherlands, Bahamas, Thailand and Taiwan.
He has all necessary certification for UK operations, including the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), National Water Hygiene, Scottish Water’s Distribution Operation & Maintenance Strategy (DOMS), Safety Health & Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Gas, Client Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG) Safety Passport, Working in Confined Spaces and Signing, Lighting & Guarding.
John previously worked as a senior site technician, working with clients to solve issues with water, gas and sewage valves and mains in the UK. He also fabricated and installed polyethylene pressure pipes and branch saddles for clients in the water and gas sector.
John is based in Derby and has keen interest in keeping fit, working out at the gym and walking in the countryside.
Tom oversees production, operations and business development for Aquam Pipe diagnostics technologies. He has been with the company since 2007, after joining JD7 Technology, and was instrumental in the development and testing of the company’s award-winning pipeline assessment technologies.
When JD7 was acquired by Aquam in 2014, Tom took on an international role, overseeing technology sales, project delivery and cultivating relationships in the global industry. He came into engineering through an advanced modern apprenticeship in electrical mechanical engineering production in the power generation industry.
Tom lives in Derby and enjoys cycling, playing golf and walking in the Peak District national park with his fiancée and their dog.
Jorge oversees hardware development at Orbis. He brings over 20 years of electronics experience, mostly in low-power radio frequency design. He previously held senior engineering positions at several companies, including Panasonic and start-ups in the San Diego area. He has been a consultant for a number of engineering design projects including audio amplifiers and solar charging. He has also carried out testing and certification to Federation of Communications Commission DO160-MilStd – the US regulatory standard for manufacturers of radio products and wireless equipment.
Jorge holds a bachelor´s degree in electronics and a master’s in optics from the Center for Scientific Research & Higher Education in Ensenada, Mexico.
Lou is responsible for Orbis product sales across the US and Canada, and has over 20 years of water industry experience, specializing in acoustic leak detection and Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction Lou has successfully led many of the largest deployments of remote monitoring, acoustic leak detection devices in North America. Working with large, medium and smaller utilities, it has been a hallmark of Lou’s career to treat each customer individually, creating both tactical and strategic solutions to help meet their goals. Lou earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from East Stroudsburg University. He and his wife are the proud parents of five children and three grandchildren.
Kevin is responsible for overseeing growth of our portfolio of smart technologies, which offer real-time data on consumer water usage, network leakage and water quality issues. He is highly experienced. with over 25 years working in the water and wastewater technology sector. Kevin spent ten years at Ovarro, helping build a successful range of innovative leakage listening devices for water utilities. He previously worked for the RPS Group, where he project managed leak monitoring and detection contracts for municipalities. Kevin graduated from Southampton Technical College, where he studied mechanical engineering. In his spare time, he loves playing golf, riding his mountain bike and travelling the world. He also has a passion for collecting vintage watches.
Greg is a non-executive director for our US market, with more than 20 years’ experience in executive leadership and operations.
A highly respected water leader and consultant, Greg has led major companies as executive vice president, president and chief executive, while sitting on and chairing boards of high profile, global organisations.
Greg is passionate about leading people, mentoring and training and is a trusted transformation expert, who develops strategies that take organisations to the next level of growth.
His in-depth knowledge of North American water infrastructure, engineering, innovation and technology will deliver huge benefits to our customers, helping them meet their business goals while also driving Orbis forward.
Greg holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and two masters in polymer chemistry and business administration. In his spare time, he volunteers for good causes in his local community.
